The Ho Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Maldives
The Location: On a private island in the Maldives – The Conrad Maldives Rangali are able to offer (for USD560/ person) a seaplane that takes 30 minutes from the airport to the resort – if you arrive early or leave later (the last seaplane leaves at 4 30pm), the Conrad Maldives Rangali have a Conrad lounge at the airport, which is quite comfortable with refreshments, food and Wi-Fi.
The design: The resort itself is spread across two different islands – the couples island (very quiet) and a family island (which is livelier and has more happening). Everything is quite modern, contemporary and luxe – yet it still has that traditional feel to it, with the sandy lobby, and straw water villas.
The room: You have options of water villas and beach villas – we stayed in a family water villa, and would do it again. The floor to ceiling windows had views of the ocean, and it was truly zen.
The restaurants: You’re quite spoilt with restaurants here – 12 restaurants at the resort, which is more than any other resort in the country! Their Ufaa by Jereme Leung Chinese restaurant, which is the Maldives’ first authentic Chinese restaurant, was great (have the sweet and sour!) and it’s home to the only underwater restaurant in the world – Ithaa (which means Mother of Pearl)! Atoll Market Buffet is where we had breakfast every morning, and was hands down the most amazing brunch I’ve had (they had a juice bar with mixes by a nutritionist, a live egg bar, Asian breakfast, pancakes, crepes, french toast, and rare fruits like mangosteen, dragon fruit and local favorites), Koko Grill (Japanese, but they also do Lobster & Champagne on Saturdays), Sunset Bar & Grill, Rangali Bar and The Wine Cellar.
The spa: There are two spas – one on each island. On our island, the family one – I went in to The Spa retreat, which is a gorgeous and super zen spa (with an outdoor shower, as well as an outdoor toilet – which you may have seen on !) I went for the Maldivian treatment, which was a treatment that included a coconut scrub, a scalp massage followed by a full body massage using coconut oil and coconut hot sticks)
The pool: The resort has an infinity pool in the family island, as well as one in the quiet island.
The gym: Yes 24 hour gym with the most beautiful views.
The service: Incredible. One of the best experiences in terms of service, and you really feel like you’re at home with the staff actually remembering you and your name. One thing I really loved was the fact that you’re offered fresh cold and hot towels throughout your stay at the resort.
Activities: There are a range of free (paddle boarding and Kayaking), all the way to paid activities (dolphin watching, scuba diving, to water sports. I booked in for a Snorkeling Safari (more details below) as well as a private yoga and meditation class, which was perfect as you really take in the fresh air and views along the way.
-Snorkeling Safari: I’m scared of the ocean but I still went snorkeling, and I recommend anyone in the Maldives to experience this. I can’t even explain how clear and breathtaking the Ocean is. We even managed to spot a sea turtle, shark and crowns of thorns. The boat is able to take you to places nearby with some of the most gorgeous coral reefs.
