Ideal for… a quick and chic lunch or coffee in DIFC
Restaurant name and location: Intersect by Lexus, DIFC
Atmosphere: As it’s based in DIFC, people are constantly in and out for quick work lunches and meetings. A spot for the bankers and lawyers working from the Financial District. It’s not intimidating at all though, and actually super cosy.
What they say: INTERSECT BY LEXUS is a unique space where people can experience the brand without getting behind a steering wheel of a Lexus. Neither a dealership, nor a traditional retail space, guests will be able to engage with Lexus through an inspiring world of food, design, art, fashion, culture, movies, music and technology.
INTERSECT BY LEXUS opened in Aoyama, Tokyo, in 2013. In December 2015, it was officially inaugurated in Dubai in the heart of Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). The space is designed by Masamichi Katayama, the world-renowned interior designer and founder of the interior design firm Wonderwall.
What to order: Their concept is a sharing one with opinions ranging from small and large plates. I went with a friend, and we ordered 4 small plates between us with 2 desserts.
-Kale and Avocado salad: This is a must order, crispy, fresh and just perfect.
-Beet and Barley risotto: This one comes in a small and large option, beets and hot barley make such a great combination mixed with creme fraiche.
-I loved how their desserts have a salty twist to them. My favorites were the compressed apple tart and Lichu hazelnut chocolate cake (which is incredibly moist)
Service: Everything was on time, with super sweet staff.
What I loved:
-Designed by the same people behind Brownbook magazine, the space is super chic.
-Although it’s a concept by Lexus, and there to take you on the journey of the Lexus lifestyle, there is nothing commercial about this place.
-Valet parking is covered from the Capital Club entrance.
-They serve light meals, good coffee and even breakfast.
-The bread comes with a light walnut oil instead of the typical olive oil.

Ideal for… a London Busaba experience in Dubai.
Restaurant name and location: Busaba Eathai, The Beach JBR, Dubai
Atmosphere: The Beach tends to be quiet during the day on weekdays, which is when we went to visit.
What they say: Busaba Eathai is one of the UK’s leading Thai restaurants, founded in 1999 by Alan Yau, creator of Hakkasan and Wagamama, now open at THE BEACH, Dubai. Busaba is known for its exquisite and reasonably priced Thai delicacies, flavorsome selection of freshly prepared salads, stir fries and curries, noodle dishes, grilled meats and fish. Signature dishes include the Massaman Duck Curry, Ginger Beef Stir Fry and Thai Calamari.
What to order:
Yam Sam son salad (pomelo, orange salad) – super fresh
Sen Chan Pad thai (noodles, prawn, peanut, green mango and crab meat)
Chicken green curry (quite spicy, but if you don’t want it spicy – ask for coconut milk on the side)
Sticky rice and mango (my favorite Thai dessert!)
Service: 7/10, the staff could have been a little friendlier
What I loved:
-If you know Busaba in London, this will feel like the squeaky clean version, which feels pretty surreal to walk into!
-The food is super flavorful, and can also be altered to your tastes – not the typical systematic way!

Ideal for… a Fondue experience
Restaurant name and location: Melting Pot, BoxPark on Al Wasl Road
Atmosphere: Quiet during the day on a weekday, but BoxPark has been proven to be busy during the evenings!
What they say: Premier fondue restaurant chain, The Melting Pot is opening in Dubai’s Boxpark on 31stof August 2015. Following the success of over 140 restaurants worldwide, the Florida-based fondue restaurant will be offering an exciting dining experience that is reminiscent of the Middle Eastern concept of sharing meals.
The new venue will offer its customers an interactive fondue experience featuring cheese fondues, salads, entrées and chocolate fondues.
What to order:
-French Onion Gruyere fondue (Using Gruyere Swiss cheese, this was by far my favorite cheese fondue I’ve had) and comes with bread pieces, apples and vegetables.
Melting pot house salad (iceberg, cheddar, croutons and egg) – an incredibly tasty salad, I love the tangy homemade Balsamic French dressing, we ordered two portions!
-Entree fondue (white shrimp and herb crusted chicken) cooked in coq au vin with fresh herbs, spices and mushrooms. Many people aren’t used to main course fondues but you really do cook your main here.
-Yin and Yang chocolate foudue (we mixed milk and white chocolate, it was a great way to try both chocolates in one dessert – rich and quality swiss chocolate right there)
Service: The manager took great care of us and the staff were super sweet.
What I loved:
-We are so used to the same restaurants, I loved how the concept was very different to what we have in the city.
-The built-in stove on every table, all about the experience!
