Ideal for… a new hot place for a night out
Restaurant name and location: PLAY restaurant & lounge, the H Hotel Dubai
Cuisine: Japanese/ Mediterranean
Atmosphere: Gorgeous and quite a large place, and not too dark – it’s a happening spot that everyone’s currently talking about at the moment. Book in advance as it gets packed, even on weekdays!
What they say: PLAY Restaurant & Lounge has officially swung its doors open, bringing Dubai a truly unique and carefully cultivated culinary concept that transports guests on a gastronomic journey like no other. Spoiled with a concoction of exquisite flavours that fuse East and West, guests are introduced to Mediterrasian Cuisine. Home to elaborate décorand a warm and inviting ambiance, PLAY proves that it really has the right mix of everything. Located on the 36th floor of the H Hotel, PLAY presents a bespoke and evolving menu that is quickly becoming the talk of town.
What to order:
Edamame with salt
Rock shrimp (if you love the one at Zuma, order this)
Pita surprise – a truffle pita with wagyu beef (must order)
Truffle fries
Japanese sweet corn (grilled, butter and lime)
Krusty krab sushi with fresh king crab, Hokkaido cheese and Parmesan cheese
Sneakers bar (pistachio chocolate bar)
Hokkaida cheesecake (walnut biscuit, orange blossom and saffron milk sorbet)
Service: Nikola, our server, was very sweet and for a change, took care of us and helped us with ordering dishes, helping us pick the ones I’d like and the ones I wouldn’t (I’m quite picky!) Everything (or most) of what we had was good.
What I loved:
–  If you love Zuma, you’ll love this place. The ex-Zuma executive chef is now PLAY’s resident chef.
– One of the IT restaurants in Dubai at the moment!
What I didn’t love as much:
-Some tables have no light; they either need lights or candles
Bill for two: AED600
