Ideal for… a casual healthy Arabic Weekend spot
Restaurant name and location: Zahr El Laymoun at Souk al Bahar, Dubai
Cuisine: Arabic (Lebanese)
Atmosphere: The restaurant constantly had people coming in and leaving, but it still had a sort of relaxed vibe.
What they say: A true Authentic Lebanese restaurant…
Our ancestors looked to nature to find the best remedies for a healthy and happy life and we are lucky today to inherit their love for Mother Earth’s gifts and secrets. Lebanese villages, nesting between green mountains and plains, have always been ripe with the lovely smell of orange blossoms wafting over the countryside, infiltrating our souls with nostalgic memories of our grandmothers concocting delicious and timeless recipes full of affection and tenderness in a rustic kitchen. We watched everything in awe, from the preparation to the table display, and enjoyed every moment of those long afternoons filled with conversation and laughter and generous tasty food.
Zahr El-Laymoun is an ode to nature and to our grandmothers. We know that food well-cooked enriches our bodies and souls. That is why our recipes have earth and tradition at their roots. Our ingredients are freshly hand-picked and deliciously grilled, making sure we deliver the healthiest of Lebanese pleasures.
What to order:
-Hummus with figs and walnuts (a twist on the classic or the one with meat that they have, and that I usually order)
-Zahr El Laymoun salad (Rocca, figs and Grilled Halloumi)
-Grilled cheese rolls (Imagine the cheese rolls you get, but grilled)
-Mixed Grill (delicious, tender & juicy)
-Jabal Lebnen (one of my favourite Arabic desserts, and they do it just right)
-Cheesecake pomegranate (creamy & the biscuit base was on point)
Service: With quite a full house of staff, I would have expected more attentiveness. The manager was very kind though.
What I loved:
-The cosiness of the restaurant, the interiors felt like we were sitting in my teta’s kitchen – I loved that.
-The vast menu – you’ll find the traditional Arabic dishes as well as others with a twist.
-Everything in the restaurant is grilled – not fried. Yay to a healthy weekend meal!
-The pita bread – freshly made and incredibly doughy!
-They have fresh juices and Shisha available.
