I recently visited Gaucho for a Saturday lunch with my true love, my grandma. As the restaurant just changed around with their menu, and welcomed some new dishes to the menu, I had to stop by and try them out. The restaurant is right next to Zuma in DIFC and has it’s own entrance.
We started off with two of their brand new salads, the Palmeto and the beets & ricotta salad – both were refreshing, and light – and we paired them with their cheese bread (it looks life a muffin, but after ripping it apart, smoke comes out and we were left with doughy cheese bread – YUM!) perfect before a ‘meat meal’.
Before we go further, I will point out – I am no meat eater. I never wake up and crave steaks… But as I was at a restaurant known for their meats, meat it is. Our fab server brought over a wooden board to introduce us to their meat from Argentina, the different cuts and the different types. I went with a sirloin steak with mushroom sauce and Humita, an interesting corn base which includes mozzarella and pumpkin (steamed corn cakes) on the side. My adorable grandma went for the Gaucho burger, which included onion chutney within a Brioche bun with traditional fries on the side (her burger was super juicy, and the fries were superbly crispy.) My steak was juicy, not too stiff and very tasty (due to it being marinated).
After a great meal, one can’t miss dessert – I was super excited for the Dulce de Leche cheesecake (creamy, and tasted like perfection), we also went for the special that day, which was the White chocolate and gingerbread cheesecake, tasted very festive – reminded me of christmas. I must try out the apple pancakes the next time I’m back.
All in all, great meal, beautiful view, and a fab lunch!
